My poor little girl! This picture was taken Sunday just before church. She had just gotten a new dress from Grandma and Grandpa Hansen that she was so excited about. Look at that cute little face! Little did we know what the next day would bring.....
As if Mondays aren't bad enough, this Monday was the worst! Sam had a dentist appointment Monday morning that she was nervous about. But, once she got her Belle toothbrush and pink bubblegum toothpaste, the fear was gone and she was very brave for her cleaning. Right after the dentist we were on our way to a doctor's appointment for Gavin and Kaden since they both have ear infections (yes again in only a month). On our way we had a little extra time so I decied to take a detour to Michaels for a quick look at something. Note to reader: NEVER take a quick detour - they will get you every time!!! While there, in a matter of 5 minutes and after about a dozen times of telling the boys to sit down in the cart and telling Sam not to climb on the side of the cart, disaster strikes! Of course they were all ignoring me, and the boys stand up right at the same time that Sam climbs on the side, and they tip the cart over onto Sam. The boys roll out of the cart completely unscathed, while Sam is the one who gets the battle scars. She got one cut on the inside of the her lip and another right by her lip on the other side. We were able to get the bleeding and the sobs under control before we left the store just a few minutes later. At least we were on our way to the doctor's office anyway! It turned out that Sam had to get 2 stitches on the little cut by her lips. Poor little thing. I don't know who had the harder time, mom trying to put on a brave face and failing miserably as I tried to keep her calm, or Sam as she watched the doctor go to work. She was so scared, but I am so proud of how brave she was. The doctor even let her pick out as many stickers as she wanted for being such a good girl - that seemed to make the whole ordeal a bit better. Of course by the time we were in the car and driving away, she was telling me that it wasn't so bad, and a few minutes later as we were getting our Happy Meals for lunch, she was excited about showing off her stitches at school the next day for show and tell. Ahh, the joys of youth, and how quickly things pass!
This isn't the best picture, but you can see her little stitches on the side of her mouth. Sam had fun making silly faces for the camera as we tried to capture her battle scars! I definitely thought the first time we went to get stitches would be for the boys. I'm sure that trip is not too far behind!
I took this one of the boys the other day while they were playing. They might be huge stinkers and big trouble-makers, but they are just so darn cute! Looking at the picture, Kaden is on the left and Gavin is on the right. I can't believe how big they are getting! My babies just aren't babies anymore. They know exactly what to do and the looks they need to use when they want to wear mom down and get out of trouble - and it even works - some of the time. Mom is just a big old softy!
